Inspection Information

Requesting an Inspection

  • It shall be the duty of the permit holder or their agent to notify Beaver County Building Department that work is ready for inspection.
  • It shall be the duty of the person requesting any inspections required by the code to provide access to and means for inspection of such work.
  • There is a minimum of 24 hours notice when requesting an inspection.

Continuing Work

Work shall not be done beyond the point indicated in each successive inspection without first obtaining the approval of the building department. Any portions that do not comply shall be corrected and such portion shall not be covered or concealed until authorized by the building official.

Required Inspections

It is the responsibility of the permit holder or contractor to contact the Beaver County Building Department for all required inspections, which are listed as follows:

International Residential Code (IRC) 109.5 

  • Interior/Exterior and/or Spot Footings,
    with steel in place and prior to pouring cement
  • Foundations, with steel in place and prior to pouring cement
  • Underground Electrical and Plumbing
  • Framing
  • Rough Plumbing
  • Rough Electrical
  • Rough Mechanical
  • Weather Resistive Barrier and Flashing
    (Section 1403.2-1405.3)
  • Insulation and Vapor Barrier
  • Drywall / Firewall
  • Exterior: Siding, Brick, or Stucco
  • Gas Piping
  • Electrical Service Panel
  • Final

International Building Code (Commercial) 110.1

Please note that the International Building Code Section 110.1 states, "No building or structure shall be used or occupied, and no change in the existing occupancy classification. . .shall be made until the building official has issued a certificate of occupancy... A certificate of occupancy will not be issued without all required inspections having been completed and approved."

Possible Penalties

Criminal charges may be filed for violation of this ordinance.
